Divorced about 1905, Will Hayes went to live with his parents and brothers in Texas. After his brother Claude's death, he attempted to manage Claude's businesses, unfortunately without success. About 300 acres of family land in New Mexico were lost in 1914 when a deal went sour. He may have also lost some valuable real estate in Fort Worth. One source indicates he was selling crystals from a spa in Mineral Wells, Tx. when he was about 70. He died in a small hotel at Joshua, Tx.
