H.J. Prine, retired from MPD, dies
Services slated for Tuesday
Lt. Hugh Joseph Prine Sr., retired from the Mobile Police Department, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Prine, who served as a member of the police force for 44 years, spent time working in the Juvenile Division and was a supporter of stricter laws to govern minors.
A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Prine was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Mobile County Law Enforcement Association, the Elks Club and was a Mason.
Prine's son Hugh J Prine Jr., is currently a sergeant with the Mobile Police Department.
Prine is survived by his wife. Betty Jean Watson prine of Mobile; two daughters, Angelina Prine Wilson and Betty Prine Suiter, both of Mobile; one son Sgt. Hugh J Prine Jr. of Mobile; one sister, Genevive Jernigan of Mobile; two brothers, the Rev. Jack Prine of Mobile and the Rev. B.J. Prine of California; and other relatives.
Funeral arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at 5 p.m. Monday at Radney.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Radney Chapel. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Lt. Hugh Joseph Prine Sr.-A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died in a local hospital on Sunday, July 27, 1986. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Jean (Watson) Prine of Mobile, AL; two daughters, Angelia Prine Wilson and Betty Prine Sulter; one son, Sgt. Hugh J Prine Jr. all of Mobile, AL; one sister, Gevevieve Jernigan of Mobile, AL; two brothers, Rev. Jack Prine of Mobile, AL and Rev. B.J. Prine of California; five grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 29, 1986 at 3 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday after 5 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street Extension, Mobile, Alabama.

Honorary pallbearers were The Fraternal Order of Police, Honor Guard of the Mobile Police Department, Chief William Mingus, Billy McGill, Vernon Cross, Clyde Bebe, Jerry Suiter, Richard Wilson, William Murrill, Charles Eubanks, Dr. Greely Moore, Jack Hickman, Wiley Foster, Dr. Walker Stewart, Walter Burch and Rev. Bob Templin. Active pallbearers Charles Stewart, Herschel McLain, Woodrow Steiner, Willie Allen, Tommy Walker, C A Dumas, Masonic graveside services were conducted by Howard Lodge #69 F & am, Worshipful Master Junior H Powell presiding.
