Valentin was born and baptized 8 Feb 1789 in Salzbrunn, Oppeln, Schlesien by Kupp, Oppeln. His father was colonist Mathias Matyschiok(several spelling variations) and mother Rosina Wiech the daughter of colonist Jacob Wiech of Salzbrunn.

Valentin married Rosina Drass/Drash/Dras, on 10 Feb 1824 in Brinnitz (by Kupp, Oppeln). Rosina was born 7 Jun 1795 in Brinnitz, baptized the 8th, to the bauer Johann Drass of Brinnitz and his wife Maria.
