Elfie Raper married J.T. "Travis" Leach on 21 March 1922 at Jacksboro, Texas just before attending church services on Sunday morning. The service was performed by Orb Fenter, local Jacksboro Church of Christ minister. The couple walked to the church and spent the rest of the day with the bride's parents. The next morning, they went by train to Perkins, Oklahoma, where they farmed for two seasons. A crop failure forced them to move to Arkansas City, Kansas where Mr. Leach worked with the Arkansas City Flour Mill.

In 1925, the couple moved to Jack County and in 1927, they moved to Graham. Mrs. Leach began nursing in the old Graham hospital on Calaveras Street in 1945. Since 1963 she has been nursing in one of the three Burgess Nursing homes in Graham.

The couple has been longtime members of the Church of Christ in Graham. Mr. Leach was an elder in the Loving Highway Church of Christ and was an elder for that congregation when they were meeting at Second and Grove. Their only son was a Church of Christ minister. The Leach family lived within a stone's throw of the same location for all but one of the 45 years they have lived in Graham. Mrs. Leach moved to San Angelo in 1983

Survived by one son - W.J. "Bill" Leach; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
