Margaret M. "Peg" Jeffries, 79, of West Lampeter Twp., passed away on Wednesday evening, April 21, 2010, at Arbor View of Willow Valley. Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Jane (Watson) Jeffries.

Ms. Jeffries graduated from Wheaton College in 1955. She then began a thirty-year career as a professor of Biology at the Community College of Philadelphia. Peg attended Grace Church at Willow Valley.

Ms. Jeffries is survived by a niece, Kim, wife of David Esbenshade of Peach Bottom; two nephews: John, husband of Julie Cummings of Atglen, and Jeff Cummings of Pittsburgh. Also surviving is a sister, Jean, wife of Rev. Charles Cummings of West Lampeter Township.

Memorial Services will take place at the C. Jack Orr Auditorium, 211 Willow Valley Sq., Lancaster, PA 17602, on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Drs. John Buswell and David Haas officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Private interment will be in Faggs Manor Cemetery, Cochranville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Arrangements are entrusted to Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 227 W. Fourth St., Quarryville.
