Esther J. Beach, 83, of West Point, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 4:30 p.m. at her home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1922 at Wever, a daughter of Eldon R. and Sarah Graham Chesnut. She married Peter A. Beach on June 27, 1938 at Fort Madison. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1993.

She was owner and operator of Beach Quarry in rural West Point.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie J. (husband Mark) Riddle, Burlington; a son, Richard L. "Dick" (wife Joanne) Beach, West Point; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (husband Bill) Olson, West Point, and Betty Peek, Ottumwa; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, with the family meeting friends that evening at the Link Funeral Home, West Point from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Link Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Buck officiating. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, West Point.

A memorial has been established for Calvary Cemetery.
