George Neiman was a man of large landed estates. The family resided in Manchester and Conewago townships in York County, Pennyslvania. John Gibson's History of York County (1886) states: "Mr. Neiman is well and favorably known throughout York County as president and director of the Dover Fire Insurance Company. He has resided in York since 1874."

He married Anna Mary "Polly" Rupert on January 8, 1813 in the First Reformed Church, York County, PA and they had 14 children:
