Hannah Cotter Grantham Johnson was the daughter of James Riley "Buck" Cotter and his wife, Elizabeth McNeese Cotter. She married her first husband, Jefferson Grantham, on September 23, 1852, in Greene County, MO. The couple had two children, Eliza Jane (Johnson) and Sarah Margaret (Pruitt), but sadly Jefferson died. On December 11, 1864, Hannah married the twice-widowed father of three Joseph Johnson, who also happened to be her brother-in-law (Hannah's sister Rebecca was married to Joseph's brother Jonathan). Hannah and Joseph Johnson had five more children together: Delila Florence (Daniel), Dennis Franklin, Hannah Abigail (Swinney), Henry Richard, and Joseph Amon.
