MURPHY, NC - William Clarence Arms, 87, of Cottage Grove, OR, formerly of Murphy, died Monday, February 7, 2005 in Oregon.
A native of Murphy, William had lived in Cottage Grove since 1961.
He was the son of the late Floyd Barron and Tina Gaddis Arms and the husband of the late Dora Kephart Arms, who died July 12, 1983.
William had served in the US Army during World War II and had worked for TVA in Tennessee, General Motors in Ohio, and Georgia-Pacific Lumber Company in Cottage Grove for over 20 years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Arms; and three brothers, Arnold, J. B., and Gene Arms.
Surviving is a daughter, Glenda Hill of Eugene, OR; three sons, Max Arms, Billy Arms, and Tommy Arms all of Cottage Grove; and twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2:00 pm Friday, February 11 in the Owl Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Chester Jones officiating and military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #96, DAV Chapter #73, and VFW Post #10222
