Lorraine J. Overton - Scott, 86, of West Point, passed away at 2:07 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the West Point Care Center.

Born September 15, 1925 in West Point, Iowa she was the daughter of George and Wilhelmina (Umthun) Groene. On November 26, 1949 she married Irvin Overton at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1993. She later married Robert Scott on June 9, 1994 in Branson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters Rhonda (Dan) Hurt of Chesterfield, Missouri, Roxanne (Peter) Whitbeck of Lafayette, California, one son Kevin (Mary) Overton of West Point, Iowa, six grandchildren Justin Hurt, Jenna Hurt, Jordan (Sarah) Overton, Geoff (Kara) Overton, Zachary Boylan, Megan (Conlee) Luke, one great grandson Jordan Luke, one sister Melva Jane Soppe of Fort Madison, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers and one sister.

Lorraine worked for the Sheaffer Pen Company for several years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the St. Ann's Daughters of Isabella and the Altar & Rosary Society. Lorraine enjoyed singing, dancing, playing cards, golfing, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon on Friday, February 17th, 2012 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point. There will be a Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point with Fr. Dennis Hoffman as celebrant. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in West Point.

Memorials may be made to Lee County Hospice.
