Nathan L. Kemp is the progenitor of all the Kemps who settled in Hot Spring, Bradley and Scott County in the mid 1800's. Legend has it that, some days prior to his death, Nathan remarked upon the beauty and serenity of the gentle hill rising above Antioch Methodist Church. His sons, recalling that Nathan had proclaimed it a peaceful place to rest in eternity, took him to the crest of that hill and buried him there. Nathan's burial at his chosen spot was the birth of the Upper Antioch Cemetery.

Nathan was the father of thirteen children. His descendants number in the thousands and reside in almost every state in the nation. This contributor is one of those descendants.
