Emily W. Tays

EFFINGHAM – Emily W. Tays, 78, of Effingham, formerly of Montrose, died at 3:51 a.m. Wednesday (July 17, 1985) at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home in Dieterich with the Rev. Harrison Blankenship and the Rev. Roy Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in Montrose Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

She was born Dec 10, 1906, in Cumberland County, a daughter of John and Sarah Louise Elliott Berry.  She married Virgil Tays July 4, 1926, in Effingham.  He survives.

Other survivors include three sons, George of Dieterich, Donald of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Melvin of Santa Barbara, Calf.; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Elosie) Dalryaple of Toledo; a brother, Edison Berry of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Ella) Hutton of Argenta; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tays was a member of the Montrose Methodist Church.
