James Quinn Morton, born ca 1805, was a son of John Morton and Nancy Quinn of Madison Co., KY. He had jet black hair.

James Q. Morton married Artemissia Ellison on 6 Dec. 1830, in Madison Co., KY.

According to Pat Eickhoff, a descendant, James Quinn Morton and Artemisia (Ellison) Morton were charter members of Pleasant Hill Church (Baptist), having withdrawn from the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where her sisters Nancy Woolery and Polly Gentry were members.

James and Artemisia lived 12 miles north and east of Pilot Grove, MO and are buried in Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery a mile from the old home. The graves are not marked with headstones. (per Tandy Newton Dix 1895-1969, grandson)

One correspondent indicated that the burial was possibly in Pleasant Green Cemetery in Cooper Co., MO. Another reported burial location was an unspecified cemetery in Sleter, Saline Co., MO.

In addition, they had infant twins (no additional information)

Note: Andrew Jackson Morton is also buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. No relationship is know between Andrew and James Quinn Morton.
