MRS. LOUISA SUTTON DIES MONDAY NIGHT---
DEATH AT HER HOME IN CHESTER FOLLOWS ILLNESS FOR PNEUMONIA,
Mrs. Louisa Sutton, 79, died at 10 P.M. Monday at her home near Chester Center, following an illness of the past week from pneumonia.
She was born in Ohio on August 16, 1857, a daughter of Alexander and Susan Anson Lee, who were born in Virginia, and who were relatives of the great Civil war general, Robert E. Lee.
Her marriage to John J. Sutton took place near Poneto, in 1878. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1928. Mrs. Sutton had resided in Wells County, since 186. She was the aunt of the late Chic Jackson,
who gained fame as the cartoonist who drew the Roger Bean comic strip for the Indianapolis Star and other newspapers.
Three daughters and three sons surviving are Dossie Sutton, near Poneto; Mrs. James (Viola) Harris, near Poneto; Mrs. H.W. Pace of Merritt, Michigan; Johnnie A. Sutton, of near Poneto; Amos Sutton of Bluffton, and Marion F. Sutton of Montpelier. A daughter Mrs. Almeda Van Camp, and a son Henry A. Sutton are deceased.
A brother, Alexander Lee, resides at Poneto, brothers and sisters deceased are James, John, William
Lee, and Mrs. Harriet Lane; Mrs. Caroline Collins, Mrs. Ollie Garrett and Mrs. Etta Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. Thursday, at he Chester Center Church in Charge of the Rev. Ed Smith and burial will be in the McFarren Cemetery.
