Weldon Glen Housewright was born on November 24, 1933, to F.M. (Frant) and Emily Housewright in Wylie, Texas. Though he did most of his growing up in a rural area, he learned real fast that he hated picking cotton. He worked at the local Western Auto Parts and ran the projector at the local picture show before enlisting in the Army when he was 15 years old. When his plan to "see the world" turned out to be limited to bases in Arkansas and El Paso, Texas, he un-enlisted and returned to Wylie High School to complete his high school education. During his senior year, he starred in the senior play, "Aunt Samantha Rules the Roost," opposite Cinda Brooks. The romance between their characters carried off stage and they were married on July 17, 1953. They had three children, Gwendolyn (stillborn at birth), **living omitted**. Glen was active in the community as a volunteer firefighter, a member of the Lion's Club, Wylie High School Band and Football booster clubs, serving on the Wylie ISD School Board, and holding several leadership positions in the First Christian Church. He loved to watch the Wylie Pirates play football and was a season ticket holder for many, many years.

Glen worked for Texas Power & Light, that became Texas Utilities, for 39 years. Most of his career was spent as a local representative; residents called the house, even after TP&L established a central dispatch, to report their lights out and he would go out and climb the poles in the rain and sleet and snow and hail to fix the problem. Glen always had a project, and he could build almost anything without a blueprint or YouTube video. For years, he had a homemade Christmas light display, including a star on top of the house, that was enjoyed by all those who drove by. People would leave notes in his mailbox or knock on the door, thanking him for the joy that he brought. Glen was a jokester who loved to laugh and make people laugh and was always up for a game of dominoes or cards. Once he got his kids raised and through college, he and Cinda realized his dream of "seeing the world," spending the night in every U.S. state, Canada, and Mexico. Glen was a dedicated and loving husband to Cinda as she battled Parkinson's for ten years; a battle she lost in 2013.

On January 24, 2023, Glen went to be with the Lord. He will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. A special thanks to **living omitted** The family expresses deep appreciation to Second Family Home Care, Home Health Professionals, and Precise Personalized Care Hospice for the excellent care and support they provided over the past year.

A celebration of Glen's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at First Christian Church, 701 E. Stone Road, Wylie, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2023, at Allen Funeral Home, 508 Masters, Wylie, Texas. Donations in memory of Glen may be made to First Christian Church, P.O Box 458, Wylie TX 75098.
