Marguerite attended first grade at Hardscrabble, second grade at Saratoga, near the Pratt Fish Hatchery and third grade at Star School. At age nine the family moved to a farm south of Norwich, KS. While living there, Marguerite attended Moffett for grades 4-7 and then Norwich for eighth grade and high school.
She met her future husband, Jack Hoover while attending a church youth group meeting at Chicaskia Baptist Church. They were married on Sep 11, 1948 by Rev. Dan Bettis at the Harper United Methodist Church. The birth of their daughter Connie came in 1951 and their son Stan was born in 1954.
Marguerite and Jack lived in the Harper, KS area for 54 years. In 2002, they moved to Country Living in Anthony, KS where they resided for six years. In 2008, they moved to Magnolia Square Nursing Home in Springfield, MO to be near their daughter Connie.
After 61 years of marriage, Jack passed away in 2010 and later, Marguerite moved to Jefferson City, MO to stay near her daughter Connie. She was a resident of Villa Marie Nursing Home in Jefferson City until the time of her death on Nov 8, 2011.
At age six, Marguerite came to know Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was led to Christ by her mother and then was baptized in the Ninnescah River when she was eight years old.
In addition to raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren, Marguerite loved studying her Bible especially Bible prophecy. She also loved sharing what she learned with others and faithfully attending and serving in church. After Jack passed away, Marguerite spent many hours preparing what she called her "bulletins." Her daughter Connie would type these for her and then friend, Byron Ridlen used his computer skills to developed them into beautiful pamphlets. Marguerite gave away hundreds of her bulletins as a witnessing tool to many people and workers at the nursing homes in Springfield and Jefferson City. Her faithfulness in serving Christ undoubtedly resulted in many coming to know Him.
Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Connie Mitchell and husband Larry of Jefferson City, MO; son, Stan Hoover and wife Patricia of Anthony, KS; six grandchildren, Lindsay Hoover of Manhattan, KS; Jay Hoover of Wakita, OK; Ty Hoover of Fort Bragg, NC; Chad Mitchell of Loveland, CO; Kelly Mitchell of McPherson, KS; Teri Biller of Lenexa, KS; and nine great grandchildren.
