Services for Martin E. Abbott, 69, of Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, will be held at 2 P.M., today at Gude Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Todd Karges of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
Mr. Abbott, who was born on January 31, 1924, in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, the son of Adrian and Nora (Jones) Abbott, died at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, Nebraska on November 26, 1993.
He was married in Hiawatha, Kansas, on November 28, 1945, to Lorraine Esser, and precedes her in death. He is also survived by his children, Mrs. Larry (Mardena) Briley of Percival, Iowa, Barry Abbott of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Carl Abbott and wife Tammy of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Clarence, in 1969, and three brothers. Martin lived in Nebraska City most of his life and worked at Haverty's Farm and City Service until retirement. He was a member of U.C.T., and Eagles Lodge. Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. Also surviving are Mr. Abbott's brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lola Barrett and her husband Delbert of Fremont, Nebraska, Darold and his wife Janice of Elmwood,Nebraska, Wanda Barrett of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Tom and his wife Mary Lou Abbott of Las Vegas, Nevada, Vernus Abbott of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Larry Abbott of Union, Nebraska. The family will greet relatives and friends Sunday evening from 7 to 8 P.M., at Gude Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Jerry Esser, Jerry Barrett, Don Poggemeyer, Dave Schneider, Darold Abbott, Jr., and Brian Zech.
