Gertrude Pollpeter, 95, of West Point, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 1:15 p.m. at the West Point Care Center.

She was born Oct. 3, 1910 at Ipswich, S.D. to William Albert and Mary Wellman Boeding. She married Alphonse J. Pollpeter on Sept. 15, 1936 at West Point. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1975.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and West Point Senior Citizens. She loved to quilt and crochet and play cards. She was a diehard Cubs fan and a prominent member of the Avenue C and Sixth Street Ladies.

She is survived by one son, Mark (wife Dorothy) Pollpeter, West Point; three daughters, Jane (husband Carl) Bell and Alice (husband Gary) McCannon, all of West Point, and Monica (husband Steve) Burke, Denmark; ten grandchildren, Jeffry Bell, Randy Bell, Travis Bell, Carla Bell, Kent Pollpeter, Brenda Dunker, Stephanie Wiese, John McCannon, Gina Hardin and Mike Pollpeter; six great-grandchildren; her twin brother, George Boeding, Buelah, N.D., and a brother, Raymond Boeding, Donahue; two sisters, Frances Lampe and Rosanna Derksen, both of West Point; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three grandsons, three sisters, and five brothers.
Friends may call after noon on Thursday, March 23 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point. There will be a Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 3 p.m. and a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. and the family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., all at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point, with Fr. Apo Mpanda officiating. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, West Point.

A memorial has been established to St. Mary's Church or Calvary Cemetery.
