Funeral services were held March 30th in the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel for May Ping Sellards, 85, Bozeman. The Rev. Ron Hansen officiated. Burial followed in the Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Sellards, who raised more than $20,000 for the American Cancer Society, died March 25th in the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
She was born October 21, 1901 in Miles City, the daughter of Michael Francis and Matilda Laduke Kappes. She moved to Bozeman as a small child and attended Bozeman schools.
On June 23, 1939, she married Mack Sellards in Butte.
For many years she owned and operated the Old Faithful Bar in Gallatin Gateway, now known as Stacy's (sic) Bar. She was well known as the "hat-lady."
Sellards was a member of the American Legion Eagles and VFW auxillaries.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Steve (Hazel) Howard, Apache Junction, AZ; Mrs. Ceilia Prevost, Big Timber and Mrs. A.R. (Marie) Dalio, Bozeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
