Herman E., age 87, res. of Friendship Village of Bloomington. Born 3/25/01, Fountain City. WI, died 10/17/88, Bloomington, MN. Son of Henry F. J. Kossow from Mecklenberg, Germany & Katharina Sutter Kossow from Shires, Switzerland. Mr. Kossow was a Bloomington resident & businessman from 1932 & and the 1st Mayor of the Village of Bloomington, 1953-56. He was noted for his generosity in helping others to establish themselves, his civic mindedness & his love of the outdoors. He was a Charter Member of Bloomington Chamber of Commerce & a member of the Oak Grove Pres. Church for 54 years. He was a bondholder in Metropolitan Stadium. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Irene Kossow; his son Richard Kossow of Kneeland, CA; grandsons Rick Kossow of Kneeland & Steven Kossow of Los Angeles; granddaughter Amy Laporia, also of Kneeland; & 6 great-granchildren. Memorial service Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, 2200 W. Old Shakopee Rd, 3 pm, Thur., Oct. 20, 1988. Private interment Dawn Valley Memorial Park. The family requests memorials to the Church or to the donor's choice of charity.
