Mrs. Ernest Deppe Dies at Her Home Near Kellogg

Kellogg, Ia., June 2, Special:

Funeral services for Mrs. Ernest Deppe, 74 - year-old resident of Rock Creek township, who died at her home four miles northeast of town early Sunday morning, were held at the Lutheran church here Tuesday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. P. G. Bauer, in charge. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery west of town.

Born February 7, 1864, Augusta Brune was married to Ernest Deppe March 7, 1886, and soon after their marriage the couple sailed for the United States. They first located in Newton, then moved to Baxter where they lived for five years, and in 1901 they took up their residence on the farm where they have lived since. Six children were born to them, one of them, a daughter, dying at the age of six months.

She was baptized and confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran church in Germany and united with St. Paul's Lutheran church here shortly after they came here to make their home.

Surviving relatives include her husband, her sons, Will, Fred, Herman and Albert Deppe, all of this place; Henry of Grinnell; a sister, Mrs. Charles Koppin of Newton, and 11 grand-children.


Note: Auguste Brune Deppe was born in the small village of Kirchhiede, Lippe Detmoldt, Germany and came to America on SS Werra, Bremen, Germany to New York arriving April 6, 1886.

She is the daughter of Simom August Brune and Caroline Wilhelmine Henritte Busch Brune.
