Death visited the home of Mrs. Emma Welpton at Des Moines, Sunday afternoon March 10, 1918, at 1:00 o'clock, taking therefrom her only daughter, Margaret Henrietta Mary. She had been ill since the first of the year and was afflicted with leakage of the heart and rheumatism. Deceased was the daughter of Earl and Emma Welpton and was born in Fort Madison, September 8, 1904, and was 13 years, 6 months and 2 days of age. Deceased spent considerable of her childhood days in West Point and was of a pleasant disposition and a lovable child. She is survived by her mother and one brother James of Carlsbad, N. M. Also by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Nacke of West Point, her grandmother, Mrs. Henrietta Welpton of Denver, Colo., and numerous other relatives.
The remains were brought to West Point Tuesday and services were held at St. Mary's church at 10:00 o'clock. Rev. Father Grothe officiated. Interment was in Calvary and many friends of the family attended. The funeral mass was celebrated at St. Johns church at Des Moines Tuesday morning. Those attending the funeral from a distance were; Mrs. Emma Welpton and son James, Al Nacke, and Mrs. Hugh G. Welpton, all of Des Moines; Mrs. Henrietta Welpton of Denver, Colo., Mrs. H. I. Braden of Carlsbad, N. M., Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Nacke of Piuver, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Welpton of Sawyer, Misses Mary Nacke and Catherine Dingman, and Mrs. Patrick Fitzgareld of Fort Madison, Jerry Shay of Ottumwa.
The bereaved ones have the sympathy of many in West Point.
