"HOFFMAN-at her home in the town of Hokah, June 22d, 1894, of cancer, Mrs. Martha Hoffman, aged 52 years and 8 months.
Deceased was born in October, 1842. Came to this country in 1852, and to Minnesota in 1858, where she was married to John Hoffman, settling on the farm where she died.
Mrs. Hoffman's husband died 12 years ago leaving her in destitute circumstances with a family of six children, four girls and two boys, all of tender years, to care for. By careful management and well directed effort and labor she was able, at the time of her death, to realize the profits of her toil.
Funeral services were held at her late residence, Rev. Hediman of Caledonia Ridge officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the family burial ground, on the farm, and were followed to their final rest by a large concourse of mourning relatives and neighbors to the number of about two hundred."
