Funeral services were held Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Clay Center for Gladys Faye (Thurber) Head, 78, of Hastings. She passed away Monday, October 14, 1996, at Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace. Burial was in Clay Center Cemetery.

Mrs. Head was born February 10, 1918, to Roy Addison and Viola B. (Burkett) Thurber in Oak and graduated from Nelson High Schol in 1936.

February 26, 1937, Gladys married Vernon LeRoy Head in Mankato, Kansas. They lived in Glenvil and Clay Center before moving to Hastings in 1973.

Glayds was employed by the Hastings Naval Ammunition Depot and later Glenvil Leverage Tool Co. She retired in 1980. Her husband died November 17, 1993.
