Mrs. Lula Bell Leonard Harvey was Born and raised in the Cedar Branch community , Grapeland , Texas. She united with the Cedar Branch Baptist Church and was a member until she moved to Houston, Texas. She received her primary education at the Cedar Branch Community School and Crockett High School. She attended Mary Allen College (Crockett, Texas)& Huston-Tillotson College (Austin, Texas) where she received her Teacher's Degree. She received her Master's Degree from Texas Southern University (Houston, Texas). She taught at Cedar Branch Community School and W.R. Bank School in the Grapeland Independent School District and later taught in the Houston Independent School District until she retired. She was a dedicated teacher, who exhibited much patience to ensure that her students gained the knowledge needed to fulfill educational goals. She had a deep desire for individuals at her home Church (Cedar Branch)to be lifelong learners. Even though she could not attend she recruited family members to go to the Church on an annual basis to present a Black History Program. This Program was started in February 1993 and has continued yearly to date. We salute Mrs. Lula Bell Leonard Harvey for such a fulfilling opportunity.
