"Alice E. Chapman, who died at Hunt Dec. 27, 1937, after a prolonged suffering caused by a fall last March, was born in England June 5, 1864. She came to this country when a young girl and spent all of her married life later in the town of Portage. She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. M. Goepp of Pike, Ellen Wesendorf of Fancher, Emily Mann of Lockport, and Grace Macklin of Hollywood Cal.; also two brothers, George Purkis and Clarence Purkis, both of Pike

Mrs. Chapman was for years a faithful member of the Baptist church at Hunt. A woman respected by all who knew her, a faithful friend, kindly and charitable. Her funeral was held at the Hunt Baptist church Thursday Dec. 30, and burial was in Hunt's Hollow cemetery. Rev. W. H. Robertson, a former pastor, and Rev. Harry Fargo, the present pastor, officiated. The little church at Hunt will miss her presence and support greatly."
