Mrs. William Anderson Passes Away Friday
Her Death Mourned by Large Circles of Friends and Relatives
Annie Ernestine Hollock Anderson passed away at 5:50 o'clock Friday evening, April 8, 1927, at her home near La Prairie, Illinois. She was taken ill Sunday April 3rd being unconscious most of the time until her death.
The deceased was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, November 2, 1858. She came to Illinois when nineteen years of age and settled near Tennessee.
On January 11, 1882, she was united in marriage to William Anderson, of La Prairie, Ill. To this union, three children were born: Jennie A., Violet M., and Robert C., all living.
She, with her husband, united with the United Brethren of Washington church of Augusta township, Hancock county, later uniting with the M.E. church of Golden. During the last few years of her life, being unable to attend church, she most earnestly and zealously devoted her time to the study of the bible, from which she received much relief and benefit.
She is survived by her husband, three children, Mrs. Roy Beckett, of Camp Point, Mrs. Ray Thompson of Quincy, and Robert C. of La Prairie; two grandchildren, Mildred Taylor of Quincy, and Arlene Beckett of Camp Point. Also three brothers and two sisters, Miss Carrie Hollack of Balboa, Canal Zone [Panama]; Herman F. of Tampa, Florida; Christian J. of Golden, Ill.; Mrs. Lillie Applegate of Macomb, Ill., and Major Roland M. Hollock of Ft. Amador, Canal Zone.
Funeral services were held Monday at 12:30 at the La Prairie M.E. church, conducted by Rev. John B. Roosa.
Mrs. Mabel Ross and her brother, Arch Thomas, sang sweetly two solos and a duet number, the song "Whispering Hope" being especially beautiful. The casket bearers were Henry Duden, Henry Saathoff, J. W. Alexander, Ed Simpson, Fred Eber and Columbus Booth. The internment was in the Pulaski cemetery.
