After his marriage to Eliza Ann RAGSDALE 22 Feb 1836 in Lawrence County, Indiana, Benjamin took up farming in the area of the border of Lawrence County and Monroe County. He and Eliza had no children but raised two sets of brothers and sisters: Alexander and Delphina DYER and Susan and William SHIELDS. Six months after Eliza died, Benjamin, age 50, married Sarah Emaline FINDLEY 26 Aug 1863 in Jackson County, Indiana. Benjamin and Sarah were the parents of Josephine, Eliza Ann, John Wiley, Ira Curtis, Flora Ibell, David M., Phoebe Adaline, William Roscoe and Perry Lonzo in the next 18 years. Benjamin died of infection following an eye operation.
