Denette Kay Brown,35,of 223 Elkton Ave, died 5;25p.m. Thursday (Jan.16,1997)at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.
She was born Oct.19,1961 in Waynesboro, a daughter of Nelson Terrell and Seretha Wing.She was later adopted by Phyllis Thorne of Waynesboro,who survives.
She was a graduate of Elizabeth Brant School of Business and had worked at The Salvation Army in Waynesboro.
She was a member of the Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her step-mother,survivors include two sons,Douglas J.Brooks and Michael Brooks,both of Waynesboro,three daughters,Crystal Brown of Dooms,Misty Ratliff and Carrie Ratliff both of Waynesboro,four sisters,Deborah Harris of Waynesboro,Teresa Hite of Waynesboro,Lisa Truslow of Waynesboro and Michelle Garcia of Harrisonburg ,Step Mother Phyllis Thorn Of Waynesboro,Va.
Also surviving are eight nieces and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Angela Brown in 1978.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Riverview Cemetery,conducted by the Rev.Bruce Noffsinger and the Rev.William "Bill" Cole .
Active pallbearers will be John Brooks,Rudy Hyden,Ralph Brown and family and friends attending the service.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
Friends may call anytime at the step-mother's residence at Route 3,Waynesboro.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dooms Fire Department or the Waynesboro First Aid Crew,P.O. Box 1427,Waynesboro,Va 22980.
