SHENK, JAMES ADOLPHUS, age 84.3.5 a lifelong resident of the Kimball neighborhood, died November 26, 1948. Mr. Shenk was a farmer and spent his entire life in the Kimball community. He was born August 21, 1864 and was a s/o the late James H. and Betsy Ann Shenk. On December 24, 1885, he married Araminta J. Beach and to this union six children were born, five living, Miss Mae Shenk and Reuben A. Shenk, at home, Mrs. Thurman (Edith) Judd and Mrs. Elmer (Ruth) Batman, both of Kimball and John W. Shenk of Luray. A daughter, Mrs. Fred (Rena) Mayes, died away more than 30 years ago. A brother, Theodore Shenk, of Washington, DC. and a half brother, Holland Shenk, of York, Pa., also survive. Burial was in the family cemetery near the home. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Shenk & Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Shenk of Washington, DC.; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Shenk of Martinsburg, WV., Mr. & Mrs. John Harpine & son, Stanley, of Nokesville, Va.; Mrs. Holland Shenk & daughter, Miss Mamie of York, Pa.; Mr. & Mrs. Sommers Douglas of Charlottesville, Va. & Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Moyer of Elwood, Va. Mr. & Mrs. Charles Veach.
