Mr. George Thomas Peebles, 87, husband of the late Leila Phillips Peebles, Route 1, Stapleton, Georgia, entered into rest Wednesday, May 9, 1979, at St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. The funeral will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Mount Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Price and the Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Newman, Richard Peebles, Emory McNair, Ronald Russell, David Tankersley and Dennis Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mount Beulah Baptist Church Men's Bible Class. Mr. Peebles was a native of Glascock County, but lived in Warren County for a number of years. He was a retired gristmill operator and was a member of Mount Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Paul McNair, Stapleton, Mrs. Chesley Allen, Mrs. Earl Tankersley, Mrs. Harold Hammett, Thomson, Ga., Mrs. Lindsey Newman, Grovetown, Ga., and Mrs. A.P. Russell, Wrens, Ga.; two sons, James Peebles and Willie T. Peebles, Stapleton; five sisters, Mrs. Dillie Chalker, Gibson, Ga., Mrs. Maria Stapleton, Stapleton, Mrs. Myrtle Poteet, Mrs. Florence Gettings and Mrs. Mary Lee Rushton, Augusta; four brothers, John Peebles, Stapleton, Dave Peebles, William Peebles and Ed Peebles, Augusta.
