Gladdie was born February 21, 1928 the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Bond) Christie. She worked at Village Villa Nursing Home in Nortonville, KS as Activities director. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Nortonville KS, enjoyed reading, word games, computer games, and her family.
Gladys Christie married Donald Bertels on June 11, 1947 in Effingham KS. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1986. Survivors include four sons; David (Karen Joyce) Bertels, Neodesha, KS, Thomas (Karen Sue) Bertels, Wichita, KS, Anthony (Pam) Bertels, Olathe, KS, Robb (Lisa) Bertels, Stillwell, KS, four daughters; Carol (Fred) Hall, Overland Park, KS, Peggy (Lee) Defendorf, Topeka, KS, Elaine (Joe) Fasulo, Olathe, KS, Lori (Michael) Kleibohmer, Lawrence, KS, fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Celebration of life will be 7:00PM Friday April 16, 2010 at O'Trimble Funeral Home, Nortonville KS, with Fr. John Reynolds as Celebrant.
