Irene G. Bashore, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Cedar Haven in Lebanon. She was the wife of Homer M. Bashore, and on January 7th, they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Born in Bethel Twp., Berks Co., she was the daughter of the late Howard and Mamie Strauss Zeller, and was raised by her aunt and uncle the late George and Mary Groff. She retired in 1982 from College Hill Poultry where she had worked in sales. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg, and Women of ELCA. She was also a member of the Fredericksburg Lioness Club. She loved her flowers, crafts and crocheting. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Bruce D. husband of Connie Bashore of Rehrersburg, and Dennis T. husband of Lois Bashore of Grand Prairie, Texas; a daughter, Jean A. wife of Neal Grimes of Fredericksburg; halfbrother, Earl Zeller of Fredericksburg; sisters, Ellen Schoener of Myerstown and Dorothy Meridith of Bernville; grandchildren, Perry Grimes, Holly Brown, Andrea Book, Dean Bashore and Doug Bashore; greatgrandchildren, Chase Mease, Emma Book, Brendan Byler, Roman Byler and Logan Book. She was preceded in death by her half-brother, Gilbert Groff; and a sister, Pearl Bromell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
