CAPT. CO 1 45 VA INFANTRY
CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY

Thomas was Captain in the 45th Virginia Infantry and died the first summer of the war.
He was "mustered into Company I, 45th. Va. Inf. May 29, 1861, Wytheville. He was elected Captain of the Company when it was organized and left with it when the company departed Wytheville for West Virginia in July.
He contracted the measles and died in Bland County on July 20, 1861. His body was brought back home.
