Jan. 6, 1892 as follows: "Mrs. Maria Ames, who died on Sunday at the home of her son, Mr. Fisher Ames, three miles south of this city, was aged 82, and had been blind for thirty years. She was one of the old residents of the county, her husband having at one time been engaged in business in Bloomington. He died twenty years ago. She leaves three living children who are Mr. Fisher Ames and Mrs. Baldwin and Mrs. Wicks, both of whom are residents of Champaign".
The funeral took place from the home of her son, Mr. Fisher Ames, three miles southeast of this city, yesterday afternoon. The interment took place at the Rhodes Cemetery.
