Son of Ransom Wallace Akin I and Martha Jacobs. He was four months old when his mother died in June 1833 in New Albany, Floyd Co., IN. His father remarried in 1834 to Sarah Rawlings Sedgwick. In 1838 the family moved to Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN. He married Louisa Elizabeth "Lib" O'Haver on July 8, 1854 in Sullivan Co., IN. They resided in Carlisle for several years and then moved to Indianapolis sometime before 1880 as they are recorded on the 1880 census there. After this they moved to Lancaster, SC. by 1885 where he was employed by the government Railway Mail Service. Following his death, "Lib" returned to Carlisle, IN. They did not have any children. Obituary - Mr Frank M Akin, died at Lancaster, SC. on Dec 19th of consumption. He was a mail route agent on the C & L R R. He was well known in Lenoir, being the first R R mail agent who ever made a trip to this town. He was in the last stages of consumption for four or five years.
