James Tapley Bynum
James Tapley Bynum, 74, prominent farmer of Rt. 3, Oneonta, died at the residence about 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1st.
Mr. Bynum was well-known to the people of this section. Hew as a member of the well-known Bynum family, who were among the first settlers of Blount County. He was the son of the late Toliver and Sara Stephens Bynum.
Mr. Bynum was a musician and taught piano and voice in North Alabama for many years before his health failed.
He is survived by his widow Mrs. Lillie May Bynum, Rt. 3, Oneonta; two sons, G.J. Bynum, Panama City, Fla, and L.A. Bynum, Vaucleus, Miss; one daughter, Mrs. Hoyt Murphree, Oneonta; one sister Mrs. Vina Forter, Oneonta; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Lebanon Church on Wednesday, June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. L.S. Riche. Interment in the adjoining cemetery, with Chambers Brown-Service in charge of the burial.
