Nelson lived all of his life in Collin County and worked as a finish carpenter and as a farmer. On 8-19-1933, he married Opal Porter and they were the parents of 2 children. Nelson was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lucas since joining in July 1947. Until his health began to fail, he served faithfully as a deacon and trustee. He consistently sought out opportunities to provide financial support for the ministry to children at his local church, as well as throughout the world.
