Bessie L. Emholt, 96, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Major Hospital.

Born Nov. 25, 1913, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Orie and Flora (Carmony) McDaniel. She married Clarence R. Emholt on May 26, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2000.

Survivors include her daughters, Darlene (husband, Oscar) Jaggers of Rushville, Irma (husband, Gilbert) Whitten and Janet (husband, Mike) Crim, both of Shelbyville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Leora Bridges, Sylvia Larrison, Zelda Hutton, Bertha Winton and Emma Bailey; brothers, Ted "Fletcher" McDaniel, Thomas Carmony McDaniel and Ozro McDaniel; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Emholt was a homemaker.

She had attended Morristown schools.

Mrs. Emholt was a member of Town and Country Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Don Bennett officiating.

Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
