UNEXPECTED DEATH OF WILLIAM BATTERSON

Well Known Rancher Passes Away At Home Of His Father Here Of Uraemic Poisoning

From Monday's Daily

William Batterson, aged 55 years, one of the best known ranchmen in the county, died about 5:30 o'clock this morning, at the home of his father, Solomon Batterson, 402 east Oak Street, of uraemic poisoning. He had a slight touch of pneumonia, but in the opinion of the attending physician, death was due to the first named trouble. Mr. Batterson had been ill only a week, having returned from Denver a week ago Sunday with his wife. At that time he complained of feeling ill and he became bedfast soon thereafter.
He leaves besides the grief stricken wife, one son, William Aldrich, who was the idle of his father's heart.
The decedent was a man of strong physique and splendid health, hence his death comes as a great shock to the family and friends, who did not consider his illness serious.
The Batterson ranch is located on the Elkhorn, West of Log Cabin, and it was famed far and wide for the hospitality of it's owner, as well as for the quality of the cattle raised there. Solomon and William Batterson were associated in the cattle business many years, but the elder Mr. Batterson retired some years ago and came to this city to make his home. The son and his family were frequent visitors here and on their return from Denver a week ago, they went to the Batterson home, so the sick man could have the best attendance. Everything possible was done for the patient, but to no avail.
Burial will be at Livermore, but the hour for the funeral services has not been fixed.
