With the exception of a few years spent in the Western states, Mr. Albert had spent his entire life in Woodstock. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church for a number of years.
During the war, he was a member of Co.F. 10th Va. Regt. and his reputation as a gallant soldier was equal to that of the best.
After the war, he married Miss. Mary Allen, and engaged in the mercantile business. He always gave his business close personal attention.
For a year or more he had been in declining health, and for several weeks had been confined to his bed.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Mr. Claude Albert, Harrisonburg, and Mr. Allen Albert, of this place, one daughter, Miss. Ray Albert, and one brother, Mr. Hugh Albert, of Ohio, one sister Mrs. Lemuel Burner, of Washington, D.C.
His funeral conducted by his pastor, Dr. D. Stephenson assisted by Revs. Kitzmeyer and Kern, took place from his residence on North Main Street on Tuesday morning, after which his body was buried in Massanutten Cemetery.
