Mrs. Jewel Anderson, age 91 of Nacogdoches, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010 in Lexington Place in Nacogdoches. Mrs. Anderson was born March 26, 1919 in Houston County and had lived in Nacogdoches for the past eleven years. She was a member of Appleby Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Sue Varley of Grapeland and Weida Shurtleff and husband, Robert of Sugar Land; one son, Dennis Anderson and wife, Janice of Nacogdoches; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonley D. Anderson; parents, Wade and Martha Vada Crenshaw, sisters, Katheleen Steingburg, Irene Slowiski and Ona Wells Gentry; and son-in-law, Richard W. Varley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Anderson will be held Monday, October 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Anderson and Rev. Darrell Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
