James Gilliland is the son of James Adam and Margaret Frances Burr Gilliland.


He married Hannah Adams in 1764.


WILL dated May 4, 1798 Marker reads: died May 26, 1795


"Be it Remembered that I, James Gilliland, of Fallowfield Township of Chester County, State of Pennsylvania, being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form viz.


First, I commit my soul to God who gave it and as to what worldly good the Lord hast blest me with, I dispose of them in the following manner, that is to say; after the discharge of my just debts, funeral expenses, my will is that my whole estate both real and personal be sold. One third of which I leave to my beloved wife, Hanah, for as long as she remains single but on her marriage to return to the commone stock; and the remnants to be equally divided among my nine children, only the four youngest to have seven pounds and ten shillings each and William to have ten pounds more than my other older children. And lastly I do constitute my son William my sole Executor with full power to make a good title or titles to the purchaser or purchasers of my land, and I do declare this to be my last will and testament renouncing and revoking all others.

Codicle: My will is that the payment of certain moneys to James Adams be secured previous to the aforesaid distribution. This alteration done before signing.
