Linda B. Matzke

Mrs. Linda B. Matzke, age 80, a resident of Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Schofield, for the past 3 1/2 years, died on her birthday, Saturday morning, May 4, 2002, at Kennedy Park.

She was born May 4, 1922, in Marathon County, near Marathon, the daughter of August and Lydia Ristow Oelke. She married Reinhold Matzke on Sept. 18, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. He preceded Linda in death on Dec. 28, 1978.

Linda had lived in the Wausau-Schofield area all her life. She was a faithful member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Schofield. She had done baby-sitting and made dolls. She was a volunteer for the Republican Party and had worked as a volunteer with the Hmong in the Wausau area.

Survivors include a son, Earl Matzke of Fort Worth, Texas a sister, Olive Fondow of Oshkosh a brother, Lenhard Oelke of Wausau a half-brother, Roderick Soukup of San Ramon, Calif. nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband and her parents two sisters, Eleanora Schultz and Dorothy Weiland and two brothers, Wilbur and Raymond Oelke.

Funeral services for Mrs. Linda B. Matzke will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Schofield. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday prior to the services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Schofield.

The Ruminski Funeral Home of Redgranite is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials will be appreciated for St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Schofield Building Fund.
