Samuel owned a dry goods store out at Sal Tillo. He lost it during the Depression because he had advanced goods to local folk, who could not pay for them. Samuel lost his arm when he went to the chicken house to check. He leaned his gun up against a barb wire fence and while he was crawling through it the gun went off accidentally and severed his left arm. He was after a hawk that had been raiding his chickens. He lived 6-7 months after that. He was sitting in his rocking chair at home in Sal Tillo and fell over dead of a heart attack.Samuel and Emily had four children: Robert Bruce,Mary Thelma, Merle Laverne and Merdith Grace.
