Irene L. Chasse, 88, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday May 12, 2009 in Sanford at the Pavillion. Born in North Andover, MA, on February 1, 1921, she was a daughter of Emery and Emma (Letourneau) Lortie.
Mrs. Chasse was a lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Parish. For many years she had been employed as a recreational therapist in local nursing facilities.
She is predeceased by her parents, Emery and Emma Lortie, her husband, Arice Chasse and one daughter, Janet Angers.
She is survived by one son, Richard Chasse of Manchester, NH, one daughter, Ann Turner and her husband, Robert of Waterboro, one sister, Mary Doris Wrinkle of Palm Dale, CA., as well as three grandchildren, Sandra McCallum, Lisa Kent and Peter Turner.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday May 26 at 11am at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. Burial will be on Wednesday May 27th at 10:00 AM at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
