Robert Lee Forrester, 91, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Memphis, MO, went to be with our Lord on April 15, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Tucson, AZ. The son of William A. and Nellie Childers Forrester he was born January 26, 1918, in rural Scotland County, MO. He married Bernice Vickrey on September 17, 1950, at Macon, MO, and to this union two daughters were born.

In April 1941 Bob entered the U.S. Army serving during World War II until December 1945. After returning from service, he worked for Memphis Implement Company, was Manager of Burdman Auto Parts Store, and was the Memphis Water Plant Operator for a number of years, before retiring in 1981. After retiring they would spend winter months in Tucson, AZ. In 1991 they moved to Tucson, AZ, where they made it their home.

Bob was a member of the Memphis Baptist Church and attended Christ Community Church in Tucson. He was a member of the Memphis Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M., and the Caldwell Chapter No. 53 of the York Rite Masonic Bodies, for over 50 years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Bernice Forrester, two daughters, Vickie Babbitt and her husband Richard all of Tucson, AZ and Beverly Gordon and her husband John, of Garnet Valley, PA; two grandsons, Chris Babbitt and his wife Katie, of Portland, OR, and Shawn Babbitt of Alexandria, VA; two step-granddaughters, Dawn Gordon of Wilmington, DE and Heather Gordon of Falls Church, VA; one sister-in-law, Florine Forrester; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Francis Forrester and Floyd Forrester; and four sisters, Marjorie West, Mary Shelley, Aleatha Riney, and Blanche Kirkland.

Bob loved to spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family has suggested memorials to be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515 or can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, MO 63555

Visitation will be held on Friday April 24, 2009, from noon till 8:00 p.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Masonic Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday by the Memphis Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Memphis, MO with Rev. Ernest Deatrick and Pastor Dan Hite officiating. Musicians will be Sarah Myers organist, Elaine Forrester, Angela Westhoff, and Alisa Kigar, vocalists. Inurnment will follow the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
