Orma Maxine Towery, 92, of Albany went home to the Lord on Easter Sunday at Providence Benedictine Care Center in Mt. Angel.

Orma was born in Leedy, Okla., to Herman and Kathryn Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.

She was married to Russell H. Towery for 35 years until he preceded her in death in 1978.

Orma took pride in her work at her various tenures of employment over the years. Her proudest moments came during World War II when she served as a "riveter" in support of the war effort. She also took great pride in the furniture she built while working at Veal's Furniture in Albany. Orma was an avid gardener and loving homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Strait of Albany, and A. Susie Dunn and husband Butch of Keizer; grandsons Casey Dunn and wife Laura, and Chris Dunn and wife Suzanne, all of Keizer; granddaughters Dawn Neal and husband Russ of Castle Rock, Colo., and Cara Strait of Greenville, S.C.; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Twin Oaks Cemetery.
