Joseph Grant Kirk was the 7th of 15 children. His parents were William Grandon Kirk and Juliana L. Benton. He married Rebecca Elizabeth Lyon in Gutherie, Oklahoma Oct 19, 1892. They lived in Indian Territory for several years before moving to Texas in January 1906. He was a rice farmer at Wharton and ElCampo. After retirement, they moved to Pasadena, Texas where most of their children lived. Joseph was a life long diabetic who took insulin shots daily. He died as a result of a wound which would not heal.
