James Leroy Brunner, 68, died Monday, March 29, 2010, in Sidney, Mont., after a short bout with cancer and a stroke. Services were held on Friday, April 2, at the Lonsdale United Methodist Church in Sidney followed by burial at the Sidney Cemetery.
Mr. Brunner was born Oct. 18, 1941, in Sterling to Leah (Dross) and Fredrick Brunner. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Sterling
High School. He married Sharon Evenson from Regina, Sask., Canada, in October of 1963, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sterling. They moved to
Sidney, Mont., in 1969, where he worked for Montana-Dakota Utilities for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Following retirement, they spent winters in Yuma, Ariz. He was a talented athlete in school and spent many hours enjoying hunting, boating, water skiing and especially fishing for walleye in North Dakota. After retirement, he became a master woodcarver. Mr. Brunner is survived by his wife, Sharron; daughters, Gina McIntyre and husband Fred, Jodie Evenson and husband Tom; grandchildren, Courtney and Coleton McIntyre, and Ryanne Evenson; step-grandchildren, Nicole Rohner, Amy and Jesse McIntyre; four step -great-grandchildren, Tristan, James, Faith and Walker, all of Sidney; two brothers, Fred Brunner and wife Virginia, and Mel Brunner and wife Betty, all of Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews from Canada and the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Irene Violet Brunner, Bernice Jackson and Betty Gaddis.
